Julia's Field Trip to Homestead Farm

Julia's preschool went on a field trip this morning to Homestead Farm, about 15 minutes from our house. Since the teacher, Mrs. Dengler, was there, Julia only want to walk with her. Here she is with her teacher and another friend, trying to find some puddles to walk through. We spent the first half hour checking out farm animals - sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, cows and pigs. Julia didn't get too close to the pigs since they were so "stinky." But she seemed to enjoy looking at all of the animals.
Then we climbed aboard a tractor-pulled wagon for a hay rack ride. The gloomy weather didn't get Julia's spirits down, as evidenced here.
The tractor pulled us out to a pumpkin patch, where we could pick our pumpkins. It's a good thing Julia and I wore our boots - the field was a muddy mess!
This one was the winner for Julia. All of the pumpkins were fairly small and attached to the vine. It didn't take much effort to pull the pumpkin off the vine, but Julia let me do the honors.
After a short ride back to the entrance of the farm, Julia got a coloring book and an apple (which she promptly ate with her lunch). Despite the drippy, drizzly day, we had a lot of fun on the field trip!
