Butler's Orchard 2012

As is Luster family tradition, we headed out to Butler's Orchard today for their Fall Festival.  We got there right when they opened at 10:00 and hopped on one of the first hayrack rides out to the pumpkin patch.
As luck would have it, we ended up in the same pumpkin patch as last year - the one with pumpkins of all shapes, colors and sizes.  The girls loved seeing the huge variety of pumpkins, and they helped me choose two unusual ones - a white one and a bumpy one.
Evelyn was very discerning when it came to picking out a pumpkin.  She wanted it to be just right for carving, and she ended up with a 14-pound beauty.
Here's the wheelbarrow full of pumpkins, ready for the hayrack ride back!
After picking our pumpkins (and hauling them out to the car), we went down the BIG slides a couple of times before the girls said they were starving.  To compliment our picnic lunch, the girls chose a Fall Festival dessert...apple cider donuts.  Troy and I got to snitch a few bites, too, and they were delish!
Next up, the corn maze.  Which way to go...which way?  That way!
Then we spent close to half an hour in the hay barn.  After all the hay-jumping and hay-tossing, I'm sure we will shed hay from our hair, shoes and clothes for the next day or two.
We lucked out and got someone to take a family picture - and Julia has a natural smile!  Yippee!
We spent the rest of our time exploring various signs and livestock pens, as well as doing smaller activities like a smaller hay maze and riding in a pumpkin coach.  Suffice it to say we were all happily and thoroughly exhausted at the end of our five-hour day at Butler's.
