Brookside Gardens Preschool Program

This morning, Julia attended the "Flower Buds" preschool program at Brookside Gardens, where the focus was the gingerbread man.  After reading the story, The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, the kids went on a scavenger hunt outside, looking for the ornery gingerbread baby.  All of the clues led back to the visitor's center, where the kids enjoyed snacking on some gingerbread cookies.
Then it was time to make cinnamon/applesauce Christmas tree ornaments.  Julia carefully measured cinnamon and applesauce, while I measured the white glue.
After we both took turns stirring the mixture, it was time to roll and pat the dough, preparing it to be cut out.
Julia did a great job of centering the cookie cutter and pressing firmly.  She then peeled away the excess dough.  The teacher told us it would take about 24 hours for the dough to completely dry, so we brought our little ornament man home on the waxed paper.  Julia can't wait to hang it up on our tree!
