Road Trip to Western New York

Who's ready for a road trip?  This girl!  We are headed to Sackets Harbor, New York (on the shore of Lake Ontario) to see where one of the American Girl doll historical characters (Caroline from the War of 1812) really, truly lived.  Evelyn and I have read all seven of the Caroline books, and this weekend the state historical site was hosting a craft and tea with the author.  Even though Julia hasn't read any of the books, she has heard Evelyn and me talk about Caroline enough that we couldn't leave her out.
We drove most of the day, stopping for lunch, and made it to Sackets Harbor in time for dinner.  Then we took a walk along the shore of Lake Ontario.  The clouds helped make for a gorgeous sunset.
And I snapped a picture of Evelyn...
...and Julia.  They were so excited to be in the same place as where Caroline "lived" 200 years ago!
