Backyard Critters

This nuthatch cracks us up.  When it wants to be selfish, it does this side-to-side dance in an effort to scare off other birds.  It's so funny to see...and it worked.  The titmouse in the picture flew away shortly after I took the picture.
 Goldfinches on the niger feeder are one of our favorites.  The males are such a bright yellow in the summer.
 This red squirrel is much smaller than the grey squirrels that live here.  However, it is such a little stinker - always the one picking on the bigger squirrels.  I swear it's looking for trouble in this picture...
 As far as we can tell, we have three regular female ruby-throated hummingbirds that come to our nectar feeder.  The the most we've seen fighting over the feeder, anyway.  These girls have been guzzling eight ounces of nectar in two days, which makes us wonder if they're stocking up for their migration south?
