City of Presidents in Rapid City, South Dakota

Last night we stayed at the Hotel Alex Johnson in downtown Rapid City so that we could be close to the City of Presidents walk.  This is a series of life-size bronze statues from George Washington to George W. Bush.  As we walked along both sides of the five square blocks where the presidential statues are, we stopped at each one.  The statues aren't in any order, so it was like a scavenger hunt for the girls to find their favorite presidents.
We came upon Evelyn's favorite, Thomas Jefferson, first.  She knew right away that his bronze statue was writing the Declaration of Independence.  It was especially fun for Evelyn to see how tall President Jefferson was...taller than she thought!
After lots and lots of wandering around, checking out many other presidents, Julia finally found her favorite - Theodore Roosevelt.  And she knew right away that he was wearing his Rough Riders uniform.  She was so happy to see a life-size statue of Teddy Roosevelt - I think she could have hugged this statue all day.
It took us almost two hours to walk through all of the presidential statues, but the girls loved it.  It also helped that I could use my phone to search for information about the presidents - Julia and Evelyn had questions ranging from how tall they were to why they died.  A very informative morning, for sure!
