Today was the big day - planting twelve new plants and moving three bushes from the front yard to the back yard. The only problem with a blank (dirt) canvas? Where to put all of the plants. I had a general idea, of course, but Evelyn and I had to figure out exactly where to put everything. With measuring tape and marking sticks in hand, we marked the spots.
The one plant Evelyn really, really, REALLY wanted was lavender. I let her do the honors of putting her lavender in its new home. After planting all of the smaller plants on the west side of the path, we headed over to where the hydrangeas were going to go - the shadier area under the deck. Here are the girls, planting an Annabelle hydrangea. It was flanked by two Endless Summer hydrangeas - one on each side.
In all, it took us three and a half hours to plant 15 plants and bushes, followed by 20 bags of cypress mulch.
This looks so much better than what we started with, back on April 7th!
