Post-Season Baseball

The St. Louis Cardinals have been in town this week, playing the Washington Nationals.  But it's not just regular-season baseball.  This is post-season, National League Division Series baseball.  A few days ago, without even knowing whether or not there would be a fifth game played on Friday, I bought two tickets to Friday's game.  Guess what?  There was a fifth game...and I shocked the socks off of Troy when I told him we were going to the game.  Woo hoo!
We had great seats, basically at field level, between home plate and third base.  The atmosphere was amazing and electric.  Even though we were, by far, in the minority (rooting for the guest team), it was still very exciting.  The whole crowd was anxious to see who would move on to play the San Francisco Giants.
The Cardinals were down 6-0 by the end of the third inning, which put a damper on the mood for us.  But as the game went on, the Cardinals started to come back, slowly but surely.
The game was so exciting that the crowd stood up for most of it.  We sat down in between innings; otherwise we were on our feet, and also on pins and needles, waiting to see if the Cardinals could pull off a win.
And guess what?!?  Troy's Cardinals won 9-7!
Here's a shot of the dog-pile on the pitcher's mound at the end of the game.  It was such an exciting game, more so than any other baseball game we've been to.  Who cares that the game got over at 12:30 am?  We saw the Cards advance to the National League Division Series!
