Who's That Baby?

Everyone always asks who babies look like. And, naturally, we've had this question asked since Julia came along. After finding baby pictures of my brother, Eric, we have proof. Check out the baby pictures of Eric and Julia - they're pretty similar!

Omaha's Zoo

Since we were all ready for the day by 8:30 on Monday morning, we headed over to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. On our way there, I asked Evelyn which animals she wanted to see. Her first pick: the elephants. Now, for those of you who've been to Omaha's zoo, you know how far away the elephants are from the entrance . . . however, Evelyn got her wish. Other highlights of the trip to zoo included feeding the fish, riding the train (of course!), feeding the birds, and watching the bears get their frozen lunch (a frozen block of fruits and vegetables).
Also, for those of you who have visited this zoo with children, you know someone's going to fall and get hurt. Yes, Evelyn was looking for the train, not watching where she was going, and tripped and fell. Poor thing landed flat on her stomach and chest. Thankfully, she walked away with just two scrapes. However, after that fall, we prohibited her from climbing on any rocks - one injury is enough!
Julia fell asleep in the car on the way to the zoo, and she didn't wake up until we got back to the Luster's house. She had no idea that she'd spent the morning at the zoo!

Family from Illinois

Some of Troy's family from Illinois came to Bellevue to see the newest addition to our family. I don't think Troy's grandparents would've missed this trip for anything. They arrived Saturday afternoon, and it didn't take long for G. G. Ma (as Evelyn calls her) to scoop up Julia and rock her to sleep. That little baby slept for two hours on her great-grandma!
Evelyn enjoyed hanging out in the backyard and the patio with G. G. Pa. She also enjoyed showing him her train collection.

Day Out with Thomas

Evelyn simply had a blast at Day Out with Thomas in Fremont today! She did everything she possibly could: met Sir Topham Hatt, played with trains in the Imagination Station, watched some Thomas videos, played in the Thomas bounce house, ate a picnic lunch, and, of course, rode in one of the coaches Thomas pulled. Her absolute favorite thing was seeing Thomas. Each time he pulled into the depot, she ran over there to see him - she brought along her train whistle so she and Thomas could talk to each other.

Phelps County Fun

As promised, here are pictures from our visit to Holdrege! Evelyn didn't realize that pigs were so large or came in colors other than pink. I still can't believe that she'd never seen pigs before! Evelyn was dreadfully scared of the super slide after she'd climbed all the way to the top. Naturally, once the ride was finished, the first words out of her mouth were, "I want to go again! Now!" After realizing that none of the midway rides were for her, Julia surrendered to sleep.A visit to Aunt Diane's farm wouldn't be complete without riding the Gator to the pasture to see the cows.

Welcome to Nebraska

We girls made it to Nebraska! Julia did great for her first flight - she slept all two and a half hours on the plane. Amazing. Evelyn's an old pro, as it was her 17th trip on an airplane.

Evelyn and I are so excited to be back in the land of Sonic and Runza! It didn't take us long to get our favorite treats - tater tots, cream slushes, and Runzas. Yum-o!

Currently, we are visiting family in Holdrege. Lucky for us, we're out here for the Phelps County Fair. This morning, we saw the rabbit and cat shows. This evening, we'll head back for rides on the midway. Stay tuned for pictures!

Baby Talk

Julia has something on her mind, but we can't quite understand what she's saying . . . Something about wanting to eat, we're sure.

Splash Park

We headed over to the Germantown Splash Park this morning. The weather was perfect - sunny, upper 70s, low humidity. As you can tell by the pictures, Evelyn had a great time running around the water features. This summer she doesn't mind getting her face wet, so she had a blast! It's hard to say, but it seems that Julia had a good time just looking around.

Brookside Gardens

Today we ventured to Brookside Gardens for their Flower Buds preschoolers activity. It was the best one Evelyn has been to all year. After reading the story Fairy House by Tracy Kane, the kids hiked through the garden to look for decorations to put in a fairy house. Evelyn found several sticks, different colored leaves, and a petunia bloom, among other things. After the hike, Evelyn built her own fairy house - complete with a little fairy to live in it. She had a blast!
