Julia and I went to Black Hill Regional Park this morning for their story time on the lake program. We met at the boat dock, where our pontoon boat awaited us.Here's little Sunshine, all ready for a sunny (albeit chilly) day on the lake:
Even though today's topic was beavers, we saw several other birds and animals on the lake. We saw a pair of blue herons fly across the lake. Then we saw a pair of geese with their six goslings, looking for food along the lake's shore. Julia was really excited to see six chicks that had hatched from eggs.
While we were looking at some turtles sunning themselves, we actually saw a beaver! Troy asked me why I didn't get a picture of it. Well...the sighting happened so quickly that only about a third of the people on the boat caught a glimpse of it. The beaver came down a hill, slipped in the water, and that was that. I didn't have time to get the camera ready, let alone snap a picture. However, Julia was really, really excited that she saw a big beaver!
After spending about 45 minutes on the lake, we headed back to the dock. Here's Julia, carefully looking for more animals.
