Evelyn spent the day at the Joslyn Art Museum, learning about the Impressionist artist Edgar Degas. Joslyn has a bronze cast of one of Degas' sculptures, Little Dancer, which just happens to be Evelyn's favorite sculpture.
The day camp activities consisted of making a sketchbook, reading books about Degas, observing and sketching the Little Dancer sculpture and making a sculpture. Evelyn made a gymnast with wire, newspaper and plaster; then she painted her sculpture brown and made a USA-themed leotard out of fabric.
Did Evelyn enjoy her art day camp at the museum? Absolutely! And she can't wait to go back at the end of the month for a week-long session.
