Evelyn attended two day camps at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo this week. Monday's theme was "Myth Busters," which focused on misunderstandings of animals like bats, snakes and spiders. In addition to touring various exhibits (including going behind-the-scenes), Evelyn's group got to watch an IMAX movie about "monsters" that live in the ocean - both now and long ago. Evelyn was only one of two girls in Monday's day camp, but she said she really enjoyed it.
Today's theme was "Junior Zookeeper - Jungle." I'm sure you can guess what Evelyn did today. Her favorite activities were getting enrichment activities ready for the animals. I couldn't believe it when Evelyn told me she picked up (while wearing gloves) meal worms and crickets to put together a curiosity box for monkeys. She also helped clean and organize a porcupine's enclosure (while the porcupine was elsewhere).
Evelyn always enjoys her day camps at the zoo...I wonder which ones she will choose next year?
